Foreign Visa Limits May Defeat US Expat Tax Foreign Earned Income Exclusion

U.S. expats may qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion on Form 2555 to reduce taxable income by $91,500 or more. Qualifying for this exclusion under the bona fide resident test requires that you be tax resident in a foreign country. If your visa prohibits residence or limits employment, you may not qualify.
